Let me just start by saying our home is far from perfect. We have messy rooms, and stains on floors, and I’m constantly trying to keep up with it all. When I’m shopping or planning for redecorating spaces in our home I’m looking for affordable stylish and quality pieces that align with my decor style.
I’m not one to settle for something just because it’s cheap or affordable. In my opinion, it’s worth waiting for the right something to come along vs having something that doesn’t flow with your decor or doesn’t bring you joy in your home. Are you guilty of settling just because you think you won’t be able to find the *just right* thing that you are looking for?
Everyone deserves to have a home that reflects their unique style and brings them a sense of joy.
These budget friendly curtains will help you do just that.
Are Linen Curtains Good?
What do you mean, ‘are they good?’ Ha – they’re GOOD all right! Linen curtains are a lightweight fabric curtain. Designed with comfort and luxury in mind, linen curtains drape flowingly to the ground and allow a bit of light to flow through them. If you’re looking for a light blocking type of curtain – then you’ll want to keep looking.
Where to Buy Linen Curtains
Linen curtains are actually really easy to find. Most stores that carry home decor and home linens will have linen curtains. Here’s a few places that I have found some really affordable and great quality linen curtains.
Target is always one of my first go-tos for home decor options. There are a variety of target white linen curtains to choose from. The Threshold line typically has some of the best options. I also really like the Opal House products as well as anything Hearth and Hand.
Ikea white linen curtains are what we have in our home. I like Ikea white linen curtains because they’re a bit cheaper than some of the ones I
have seen at Target and still really have great quality.
Pottery barn curtains are among some of the highest quality. They do tend to run on the more expensive side, though. Pottery barn curtains are great quality and always very beautiful. You can always find up to date curtain trends at Pottery Barn as well.
I like Overstock for curtain options because they typically have a really great selection. Their linen curtains are affordable and good quality. I can usually always find what I am looking for on Overstock.
West Elm is a sister company to Pottery Barn. West Elm curtains are still high end and high quality. However, West Elm carries decor with a more modern vibe than Pottery Barn’s traditional style.
How to Wash Linen Curtains
The great thing about linen curtains is not only their simple, luxurious appearance but the fact that they are really easy to care for. Of course you will want to read the care instructions on your curtains first to determine the best way to clean them before doing what I share today.
Wash linen curtains by putting them in the machine by themselves. Wash with a mild temperature (lukewarm or cold) and on a gentle cycle. Use a light detergent and tumble dry.
How to Get Wrinkles Out
When your linen curtains come out of the dryer they might be a tad bit wrinkly. That’s okay, you can hang them and the wrinkles will eventually come or if you really want to, you can get the wrinkles out first. You will want to take them right out of the dryer as soon as they are dry. Once you take them out, here’s how to get the rest of the wrinkles out.
- Take out the linen curtains just a bit before they are dry and use an iron on a low head setting to get the wrinkles out. Lay flat to dry.
- Hang the linen curtains once they are dry and use a fabric steamer to steam the wrinkles out.
Do Linen Curtains Block Light?
One of the reasons I really love white linen curtains is because they actually allow a lot of natural light to flood into a room. I like that they add a bit of decor to the window and give it a more polished look without blocking sunlight from pouring in.
So if you’re looking for light blocking curtains, you probably should keep looking.
These linen curtains with a light blocking panel might be just what you’re looking for!
What Color Curtains Make a Room Look Bigger?
If you’re attempting to make a room appear larger and more open, then a set of white linen curtains would be a perfect color and material to achieve that. Avoid curtains with heavy patterns or bold, dark colors. These can crowd a room and make it feel smaller.
Hanging a set of curtains in a room is a simple way to change up the space and make it feel just a bit homier and cozier. And now you shouldn’t have to feel like you need to spend a ton of money just to get the look you are going for.
