One of the most transformational and affordable changes we have made in our home are our simple and cozy natural woven shades. We replaced the old cheap faux wood white blinds that the previous owner had installed and felt an instant warmth from the natural woven shades.
Our home has a lot of white trim. And while I love white trim and much prefer it to wood, the white trim and the white blinds all felt a little too cold. It was just like a big white blank canvas. I knew that we needed a natural wood element to bring warmth to the space.
It was obvious once we started replacing the white blinds on the main level of our home that we were going to need to replace the others as well.
I love natural woven shades because they are an affordable option with a high end look. This is the epitome of our home. I am always on the hunt for just the right look, but without breaking the bank. Natural Woven and bamboo shades can do more than just cover the windows in your home, though. Natural woven shades add color, texture, and warmth to your home.
Living Room Natural Woven Shades
The shades we hung in our living room are from Home Depot. They are Home Decorators Collection Honey Cordless Light Filtering UV Protection Bamboo Shades. They are the perfect natural shade to compliment our dark walnut wood floors and other wood elements. They also go perfectly with the Sherwin Williams Repose Gray walls on our main level. We chose to go cordless on these and I am so glad that we did. Cordless shades are the way to go, yall.
Bedroom Natural Woven Shades
I chose to go with a much lighter, more natural look in our bedroom. The shades we have in our bedroom are Home Decorators Collection Natural Cordless Light Filtering UV Protection Bamboo Shades. The natural color of these bamboo shades go with the simple, cozy vibe in our master bedroom. They add just the right amount of warmth and texture!

Shades Come in Different Shades
Choosing the right shade for your space is important. Not all shades will work in all homes. Many places will offer samples of the options they have. I am currently loving a really light, natural woven shade look.
To Line or Not to Line
It’s important to note that woven shades are not totally light blocking. As in, sometimes you are able to see through them. While they do provide some privacy, if you’ve got nosy neighbors or don’t want people seeing into your home you might consider getting privacy lined natural woven shades. We actually have lined shades in our kitchen breakfast nook because the afternoon sun beats down and is so hot it’s almost unbearable.
Cords vs. Cordless
Now that we have gone almost completely cordless I would hands down always say cordless is best. Now that I think of it, I can’t really imagine that I would want cords anywhere in my home. It is especially safe for families with small kids as the cords are a dangerous choking hazard. Cordless looks so much more neat and clean anyway.
