I’ve been teasing photos and details of our new lounge sofa, the Crate & Barrel Lounge II for a few months now – and you guys are loving it (spoiler alert: so are we).

There’s also been tons of questions about how we like the Crate & Barrel Lounge II sofa, how it holds up with pets and kids, and just the overall comfort. So I’m here today to dish out all the (not so) dirty details on this incredible lounge sofa.
I’ll be giving you a full review with my honest opinion of the Crate & Barrel Lounge II sofa.
While this post is not sponsored in any way by Crate & Barrel, there are some affiliate links in this post and that means I will make a small commission if you purchase anything from those links.
If you come here often and love the content, then purchasing from one of my affiliate links is an awesome way to support this dream of mine. However, the purpose of this post is purely educational (and hopefully a little inspirational) and will give you all the information you need if you’re considering buying a Lounge II.
Is the Crate & Barrel Lounge II Good Quality?
I’ll never forget how my husband looked at me when I told him how much I just paid for our new lounge sofa.
I was pretty sure he was going to tell me to walk home.
So when I get questions about the quality of this sofa – I want you to understand something – you get what you pay for.
You see, we’ve had furniture before that was purchased from more affordable, budget friendly stores. And we loved them. But we always ended up with worn out, or broken chairs and couches.
You get what you pay for.
So, yes, this couch is GOOD QUALITY. It’s fantastic quality.
But I know you want to know more about the details. Things like, what makes it good quality? How does it actually hold up to your REAL LIFE family.
Well, to start – the Crate & Barrel Lounge II is made with a high performance and durable fabric. The frame itself is made of kiln-dried wood to prevent warping over time.
The cushions are made from a fiber down blend, which makes them super cushy and durable.
How Does the Fabric on the Lounge Sofa Hold Up?
I probably get asked about the fabric of this lounge sofa the most of all.
We have the Crate & Barrel Lounge II in Cement. It’s a neutral creamy color. In photos it almost looks white.
I know what you’re probably thinking, “that girl is craayyyy,” and with three kids and a big furry puppy – you just might be right.
But actually, I have been pleasantly surprised at just how durable the fabric has been. I mean, if you know my kids you know it didn’t take long before someone ate something with chocolate and smeared it into the cushions.
I won’t lie, that first smear gave me heart palpitations, but a little soap (Dawn dish soap is my GO TO) and water did the trick and it was just like new.
The Crate & Barrel Lounge II is made from a high performance fabric and is designed for homes like ours.
How Do You Keep it Clean?
When you have kids and dogs you almost have to accept a certain amount of messiness in your home. While I do as much as I can to mitigate the dog hair and crumbs everywhere – it’s inevitable
The couch is no exception. So when it comes to keeping it clean here’s what I do.
- Wipe up any spills or stains immediately (it’s best for stains if you get to them asap rather than to let them sit)
- My cleaning go to for stains or spills is Dawn dish soap and warm water.
- The kids aren’t allowed to eat snacks or anything on the couches, they either have to sit on the floor in front of the couch or sit at the island in the kitchen.
- Vacuum the cushions weekly.
- Pull cushions off and clean underneath (bi-weekly? I might be bluffing on that one, it’s probably more like monthly but bi-weekly sounds a whole lot better).
- We DO let our chocolate lab, Moose, get up on the couch. But we always make sure his paws and coat are clean so the only thing that might get on the couch would be dog hair (which we sweep up weekly).
Can You Wash It?
The cushions on the Crate & Barrel Lounge II are removable and able to be washed. I haven’t pulled any of mine off yet to wash but I have read some tips for when I do end up washing the covers.
- Wash inside out with the zipper closed up so that it doesn’t get messed up in the cycle.
- Let air dry so the covers don’t shrink (do not put them in the dryer).
- Wash on a gentle cycle
What I Love About the Lounge II
Oh how I love thee, let me count the ways.
As a family of five we have struggled to find furniture that we can ALL comfortably relax on. But with the Crate & Barrel Lounge II 3-piece sectional, we all get to sit down, spread out, and relax without feeling overcrowded.
(why my 5 & 3 year old want to sit right on top of me still is beyond me, but there’s at least ROOM for us to spread out)
The cushions on this couch are SO deep. I’m 5’3 and when I sit all the way back on the lounge sofa, my feet just hang over the edge and do not touch the ground. This makes curling up with a good book or a Netflix binge soooo much better.
The Crate & Barrel Lounge II Sectional has straight clean lines that go with just about any style or look. I love how neutral it is and how it will grow and change with my style.
I know we’ve talked about this at length, but I can’t say enough about how durable this lounge sofa is. When you invest so much into a piece of furniture, you really want to know that it’s going to withstand the beating it will take with your kids and pets. This sofa does that.
How to Style Your Lounge II Sofa
The great thing about the Lounge II sectional is that it’s really easy to style to make it work with your home.
The couch comes with some throw pillows that are the same fabric as the couch. I am not a huge fan of the standard couch pillows and usually much prefer getting my own throw pillows.
My favorite throw pillows have a down or down blend insert that makes them moldable. This couch is perfect for some oversized throw pillows too. I’m thinking some 18”x18” throws would be awesome.
Pro-tip: swap out throw pillows every ‘season’ to give your space a fresh look. I don’t always go over the top with holiday themed pillows and decor but some subtle color pops are a great way to look festive without going overboard.
You could also easily find a comfy and soft throw blanket (or two) to accessorize the couch with.
Personally, I love curling up and taking a power nap on the couch every once in a while and a good throw pillow & blanket put the icing on the cake for me.
When we moved in I knew I wanted to have a sofa table so that we could add some more lighting to our living area. I am a big fan of lamp and accent lightning over the main overhead lighting.
I commissioned my father in law (who owns KC Furnishing Co.) to make us a 5ft boxcar lumbar sofa table to go behind the couch. I love the character it adds.
What I Don’t Love About It
There’s not much. Honest.
But if I HAD to pick something….
1. Migrating Feathers – The sofa is made out of a down blend and sometimes leaks feathers. I find them on the ground or the couch. They’re really just more annoying than anything else.
And, when I researched the feathers coming out, the information I found all said that some feather “migration” is normal.
2. It Took Months to Get – When we ordered the Crate & Barrel Lounge II sectional back in early February 2021 it took about 8 weeks to get the couch. Based on what I’m hearing now, big furniture pieces are now taking several months to come in.
*My recommendation would be to plan ahead (if you can). But wait or no wait – its totally worth it!
Would I Buy it Again?
I absolutely would buy the Crate and Barrel Lounge II again! Actually, I am looking at another one for our basement. It’s crazy how much different the lounge sofa feels compared to others. We always opt for laying on the couch upstairs to watch family movies because we all love the couch so much.
